Caring For Non Resistant American Elm

INFORMATION LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS NEED
WHEN EVALUATING DISEASE-RESISTANT ELMS

horizontal rule

Elm Research Institute believed in the idea of disease-resistant purebred American elms at least ten years before anyone else jumped in. We started genetic crossing in 1970. This produced the tree that led the way, the American Liberty Elm. The first 10,000 were planted in 1984. As years went by, over 250,000 American Liberty Elms have been planted... many of them in historic locations including: U.S. Capitol Building, Statue of Liberty, Daniel Webster Birthplace and Golden Gate Park.

Today it is the only street tested, purebred, native American elm with a lifetime replacement warranty against Dutch elm disease.

Now, because a few new elms have appeared on the market, landscape architects should know what to look for and what to ask when deciding which tree to plant.
